Quando la rock star e idolo delle adolescenti Conrad Birdie, viene arruolato, le adolescenti di tutta la nazione impazziscono e il manager di Conrad, Albert rischia di perdere il lavoro. Ed è così che Albert e la sua fidanzata decidono di organizzare un concorso a livello nazionale nel quale una fortunata ragazza vince il bacio di addio da parte di Conrad al The Ed Sullivan Show. Kim McAfee è la fortunata ragazza e l'intera squadra di Conrad si trasferisce a casa sua, con grande dispiacere del suo irritabile padre e del suo geloso fidanzato. Il risultato è il caos più totale ed una serie di divertenti complicazioni sentimentali.
