Dopo un lungo periodo di detenzione ed un tentativo di fuga, Roy Earle, non più un ragazzo, esce dal carcere a seguito della concessione di una grazia. Ma il famoso bandito non prede tempo ed è subito pronto per organizzare un nuovo colpo il cui ricavato potrebbe essergli sufficiente per il resto della vita. Sulla sua strada incontra ben due donne assai diverse: Velma, giovane ed ingenua campagnola e Marie a cui la vita ha già riservato amarezze che l'hanno forgiata.
