1944. La Seconda guerra mondiale è al culmine: gli Alleati sono pronti a invadere la Francia per sconfiggere le truppe naziste. Il morale, però, a Walmington-on-Sea è basso e la nuova missione per l'esercito inglese di proteggere la base di Dover dovrebbe servire a ravvivare gli animi e la reputazione. Sul posto a portare scompiglio ci pensa l'affascinante giornalista Rose Winters prima che i servizi segreti informino della presenza di una spia in zona.
