La vita non è stata tenera con Selina: cresciuta in un ambiente familiare desolante, ha perso la vista in un incidente provocato dalla madre. Menomata nel fisico e nello spirito, tende a isolarsi dal mondo che la circonda fino al giorno in cui, durante una passeggiata a Central Park, incontra Gordon, un afroamericano che rimane colpito da lei nonostante i suoi problemi. Grazie all'uomo, Selina riuscirà a dimenticare il suo passato.
