Sam è un ragazzo che divide il proprio tempo in due modi principali: si diletta in incontri notturni con un'aspirante attrice e spia le vicine di casa dal suo balcone. Una sera, però, intercetta lo sguardo di Sarah, una ragazza che gli promette che si rivedranno il giorno dopo. Ma Sarah scompare nel nulla e Sam inizia una ricerca infinita, nel corso della quale scopre molte più cose sulla città di Los Angeles di quanto si aspettasse.
