In una cittadina americana un uomo resta vittima di un incidente stradale. La figlia Carol, accompagnata dall'amico Mike, si reca alla ricerca del padre. I due, dopo aver perlustrato metro dopo metro la statale, arrivano all'imbocco di una grotta. Qui trovano la macchina sulla quale viaggiava l'uomo e il suo cadavere poco distante. Inoltratisi nella cavità si imbattono in un ragno dalle dimensioni gigantesche. Tornati in città raccontano tutto allo sceriffo che organizza una battuta per uccidere l'animale.
