Dalle strade di Chicago alle galassie lontane e vertiginose dello spazio, Jupiter Il Destino dell’Universo narra la storia di Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), che, nata sotto una buona stella, mostra segni d’esser predestinata a grandi cose. Una volta cresciuta, Jupiter continua ad avere grandi sogni, ma si sveglia in un'amara realtà fatta di un lavoro di pulizia di case altrui, ed una vita difficile. Solo quando Caine (Channing Tatum), un cacciatore ed ex-militare geneticamente modificato, arriva sulla Terra per rintracciarla, Jupiter comincia ad intravedere il destino che le è stato prospettato: possiede infatti la firma genetica che la contrassegna come prossima, in linea di successione, di una straordinaria eredità che potrebbe alterare l'equilibrio dell'intero cosmo.
