radio broadcaster:
Ladies and gentlemen, due to circumstances beyond our control, the regular music critic and program commentator on our symphony hour is unable to be with us tonight. However, we have just received word from a Mr. Robert Benchley that he would be glad to pinch-hit. Mr. Benchley is not a music critic, but he claims to be an enthusiastic listener and to have taken piano lessons as a child.
