I think the great lesson that came out of Vietnam is we must never blame our troops for a mission that is unpopular. That has lasted and I hope it stays. For us, in the Vietnam era it wasn't so much fun but, Bob Hope was just steadfast in his support of troops. That meant so much to us in that time when we weren't accepted when traveling in your uniform meant a certain amount of abuse, a certain amount of negative reaction. Bob Hope was like a beacon for us. It just meant so much, meant so much to me and anybody that I know that served.. but that was him.. he was there all the time.
