[Good boy Chris meets up with The Deptford Dodger, a young runaway, who tells him he's only trying to reunite with his Dad, shown in a photograph in front of their old house]
Chris Barker:
There's thousands of houses like that. And I'll tell you one thing: you can't walk around lookin' for it any more.
Keith Lawson:
Why not?
Chris Barker:
Half Deptford's on the lookout for you now, and P.C. Dickey's on the warpath. You'll have to keep off the streets.
Keith Lawson:
I'm not scared. I can run rings 'round a dozen coppers.
Chris Barker:
Oh, have a bit of sense. Stay here 'til I get back.
Keith Lawson:
What are you gonna do, then?
Chris Barker:
I'm gonna try and help you find your Dad.
Keith Lawson:
Why?
Chris Barker:
I dunno. Reckon I need my brains tested.
