[comes over to their table]

Veronica Lake:

[Tough Guy slaps her again]
Alan Ladd:
[stubbing out his cigarette]
Let me see you do that again.
[Tough Guy slaps]
Alan Ladd:
You'd better go with him, lady. He's liable to kick your teeth in.
[Ladd exits]
