[Diane has brought Steve into the ship's darkroom, ostensibly to demonstrate her competence in the photographic arts. Impulsively, he grabs her and kisses her passionately]
Diane Templeton:
[flirtatiously]
Does this come under the heading of science or art? Whichever it is, you have definite possibilities.
[He releases her from the clutch and spins her around. Her tone changes to anger]
Diane Templeton:
Disappointed?
Steve 'Mac' McCreary:
[snarling]
Yeah.
Diane Templeton:
Why?
Steve 'Mac' McCreary:
I wanted to find out if you were the sort of woman I figured ya, and y'are.
Diane Templeton:
I suppose you'd've liked it better if I'd slapped your face.
Steve 'Mac' McCreary:
Yeah, I would!
[she immediately slaps him hard. After a moment of shock, he smiles]
Diane Templeton:
Why, good heavens! You do know how to smile!
[they are interrupted by a knock at the door; Steve is being summoned by the skipper]
Steve 'Mac' McCreary:
[as he leaves]
Maybe I'm wrong at that. You've got a few possibilities yourself.
