Kris Morrow:
[after being kissed hard from Lila making Kris recognize who it really is]
YOU!
Charlie Lapidus:
[revealing to be Charlie himself]
You knew all along in your heart, Kris.
Kris Morrow:
What about Lila?
Charlie Lapidus:
You never met Lila.
Kris Morrow:
[horrified]
What!
Charlie Lapidus:
My wife--Lila. She thought all our problems were my fault. She was going to leave me if I didn't get any help. But all our problems were HER fault. So, when I came to you for therapy, I came as Lila. Get it? But you couldn't help her--poor girl.
Kris Morrow:
You killed Lila?
Charlie Lapidus:
Well, that's one way to look at it. I really did love her, but you made me realize that she was incapable of returning that love. So, I didn't kill her; WE killed her. We went as far as we could with that relationship. I mean, when you love somebody that completely--you have to get something back.
Kris Morrow:
[nervously]
I understand.
Charlie Lapidus:
Do you?
Kris Morrow:
Yeah.
Charlie Lapidus:
Do you really understand? Do you really? To feel such love for somebody, that you would do anything--anything. It's like your heart is beating in their chest. It's like your breath is coming from their lungs. When you look at them, you're looking at yourself, and then they tell you that you're sick. Then you feel ashamed, like you're going out of your mind, like you're burning in hell. I am not sick! I AM NOT SICK!
