Eugene:
[Eugene thinks he is talking to Rapunzel, but in reality it's just Pascal disguised as the princess, using a mannequin and a flower pot, behind a translucent room divider]
Look, Rapunzel, I am sorry. I am so sorry, I should never have put you on the spot like that. But I want you to know, I-I meant it.
[Pascal is touched]
Eugene:
I want to marry you, I love you!
[Pascal notices a fly and tries to catch it, while Eugene has his back turned to the room divider]
Eugene:
It's okay, you're still upset, I understand. You're not ready to say it back yet.
[Eugene is crushed by the thought, but pretends he's fine with it]
Eugene:
Totally cool.
[He lies on the bed, his head on a purple velvet pillow]
Eugene:
Oh man, that is a good pillow! What is that, goose down?
[He sniffs, pats and caresses the pillow]
Eugene:
Some kind of down? Horse hair? Alpaca?
[Pascal lets out an annoyed squawk, making it look like "Rapunzel" is annoyed at Eugene's digression]
Eugene:
Sorry. Look, I know there's still a ton of details we need to figure out. And I may have jumped the gun a little. It's just that... growing up poor and alone... I got used to having nothing.
[Pascal wipes his teary eyes]
Eugene:
But now with you... I finally have something, you know? *We* have something. Something that is amazing. And I guess tonight I was just trying to keep it that way. And I thought that's what you wanted too, but I guess I was wrong.
[Pascal is starting to lose his balance]
Eugene:
Oh come on, say something.
[the flower pot that Pascal was using as Rapunzel's head falls off and the mannequin remains headless. Eugene is terrified]
Eugene:
Ooh!
[He rushes to the room divider, removes it and discovers Pascal on the mannequin. Pascal turns red with embarrassment]
Eugene:
Fantastic. I just poured my heart out to a frog.
