Ann Stanley:
[Locking up the office door, she begins giving Peter orders quietly]
Now you are going to drive us and then you are going to say goodbye, because you have a date that you forgot about.
[Then with a strained smile she walks towards her mother and the elevator]
Ann Stanley:
Peter is going to drop us off, but he won't be able to come up, because he has a date that he forgot about.
Maud Ericson:
Oh?
[She turns toward Peter, who has been formulating an idea]
Peter Latham:
I play poker every Wednesday evening.
[He says with a twinge of regret]
Maud Ericson:
But this is Friday!
Peter Latham:
[Grinning Brightly over at Ann, who is quietly fuming at his cleverness]
Of course! I'm free!
Peter Latham:
[as the women get on the elevator, Peter leans in as Ann passes with a non contrite]
