Russ Bogan:
We can't move the boat. Move the rocks.
Joe Voit:
Those rocks must weigh more than a thousand tons.
Russ Bogan:
We'll set up a series of charges, enough to gouge out the load. All we need is a couple of inches.
Joe Voit:
How do you know the charges won't crack us open?
Russ Bogan:
Well, I don't. But if we sit here we're dead.
Joe Voit:
If the divers go out there, they're dead.
Russ Bogan:
Not necessarily. We've had divers out at a thousand feet before. We got deep water rigs, exotic air mixtures, helium, argon. And we're loaded with experts.
Joe Voit:
Russ, that current's blowing at more than 12 knots. It can rip off tanks, face masks. It'll sweep those guys around like pieces of kelp.
Russ Bogan:
We'll rig the gear with extra belts; hook up harnesses, cables to keep from being swept away. It's gotta be done.
Joe Voit:
Who's gonna do it?
Russ Bogan:
Me.
Joe Voit:
You?
Russ Bogan:
What do you mean, "you?" I got more time in a wetsuit than this whole group.
Joe Voit:
Yeah, that was a lot of hash marks ago.
Russ Bogan:
Thanks a lot.
Joe Voit:
Well, you don't bail out at over a thousand every day.
Russ Bogan:
Today's the day.
