The socialist left and the Democrats want us to grovel, to make us into worms. They want us to repeat what they say and believe it, even if it's two plus two equals five. The British writer George Orwell, himself a man of the left, recognized that all forms of socialism become totalitarian. In his dystopian novel, 1984, lies pass for truth, freedom is defined as slavery, and the main character, Winston, is ground into dust by the all-powerful state, Big Brother.
