Sure. Why not? You've been doing it since the day I met you.
Brad Peters:
Do you think I'm funny?
Mike Hammer:
I don't know, Brad. I may be the wrong guy to ask. I've haven't smiled in three days.
Brad Peters:
The reason I asked is I've been thinking about changing careers. And I like working for Doctor Durant, but what I really want to do is be a comedian. I just don't know if I can make people laugh. That's all. You know.
Mike Hammer:
You got a point.
Brad Peters:
Want to hear a joke?
Mike Hammer:
No, Brad. Stick with the comedy.
Brad Peters:
You're not even good comfort. You know that?
Mike Hammer:
Find you own desert, pal.
Brad Peters:
I'm in a lot of trouble because of you. You know. I mean. What was I suppose to do? And why did you level with me? You're working for somebody, aren't you? That's right. You're being paid to get that book.
Mike Hammer:
Maybe, I don't like it when people get murdered. I mean doesn't anybody do anything anymore without getting paid for it?
Brad Peters:
Not in Las Vegas.
