The Righteous Gemstones

The Righteous Gemstones è una comedy che racconta di una famiglia profondamente cattolica che raggiunge la fama ideando un programma televisivo per diffondere la parola di Gesù Cristo: ma come in tutte le forme di estremismo religioso, dietro alle apparenze si nascondono perversioni, avidità e strani giri di soldi. John Goodman (The Conners) è il patriarca Eli Gemstone, un uomo astuto, freddo e vizioso che è riuscito a costruire un vasto patrimonio fingendosi l’uomo più generoso e affabile del mondo. Essendo ormai prossimo alla pensione, con l’aiuto del suo braccio destro, il conservatore keniano Martin Imari (Gregory Alan Williams, Greenleaf), Eli insegna al suo figlio maggiore Jesse (Danny McBride) i trucchi del mestiere per renderlo un degno erede al trono paterno: ma Eli si ritiene un’anticonformista e spera di poter attirare l’attenzione dei più giovani per espandere l’audience del programma.
