Whether intentional or not, the fact that Corso's car stops in a stream while he is wearing an inverted pentagram corresponds to multiple European folklore traditions that evil cannot cross running water (rivers, streams, etc). While Balkan's car makes it across, he is not wearing an inverted pentagram.
