In season 2 episode 7 entitled "The Word", we see The Prophet using a Bowie knife to cut everybody's throats in order for them to come back four centuries later, and from the looks of it, we don't get an exact date, it looks to be set in the early to late 1700's, or possibly the late 1600s and the Bowie knife was not invented until the early 1800s.
