The Ceniza Brothers altering the ninth engraving was hinted when Corso visited their shop for the first time. They stated on the front door that their business is "Restauración de Libros" (Book Restoration) which means, for whatever reasons, they will tamper with the books in some way usually for repairing, cleaning, retouching, or replacing some elements of the books. It's different from Corso's, Bernie's or Witkins' business which is Book Dealer, they just buy and sell old books without tampering with the books in any way. So when Telfer bought the book from a book restorer and not from a book dealer, he should have known that it might have been tampered with in some way, although he couldn't have predicted that the Cenizas would have deliberately falsified the original engraving to sabotage the ritual instructions in the book.
