The plane, on which Lightning and Mater travel, to the first race in Tokyo, is called Everett, and is in the style of a Boeing 747. The 747 planes have long been manufactured at the Boeing airplane factory in Everett, Washington, and the first Boeing 747, made in 1968, was called "City of Everett", so this was a reference to that original plane.
