Ohio State Reformatory was used during filming as Shawshank Prison in, Le ali della libertà (1994), while in Castle Rock it is filmed at West Virginia State Penitentiary, a.k.a. Moundsville Prison. Both real life prisons have alleged haunted reputations, have appeared on paranormal reality shows and hold paranormal events for the public.
