Almost every main character has had a near death experience. Lucas in season 1 is involved in a car accident and is hospitalized. Dan survived a heart attack. In season 2 after Haley leaves Nathan, Nathan wrecks his uncles race car and is hospitalized. At the end of season 2 beginning of season 3 Dans dealership is set on fire with him inside. Lucas pulls him out but he is unconscious with really bad burns. In season 4, Haley pushes Nathan out of the way and is hit by a car in the process. Rachel and Cooper are involved in a car accident that sends their limo over a bride and they are trapped under water for several minutes until Nathan saves them. Brooke and Peyton are attacked and tortured by psycho Derek. In season 6, Peyton almost dies when she goes into labor, after several days in a coma she finally wakes up. In season 7, Alex tries to kill herself by slitting her wrist. In the season finale of season 7, Quinn and clay are shot and in comas for several days. In season 8 during a really bad rainstorm Jamie and Brooke get trapped in a car in the river. Julian gets Jamie out but Brooke gets trapped under water and Julian has to resuscitate her. On the same night, Katie comes back to Tree Hill and attacks Quinn. The only characters to not survive their near death experiences all involved bullet wounds: Keith was shot by Dan in season 3 and died. Jimmy Shot himself and died. Nanny Carrie is shot by Dan after she kidnaps him and tries to kill Haley and Jamie. Quentin was shot by Xavier in season 6 and died. Dan was shot rescuing Nathan in season 9 and died. The only characters to not die by a gun are Lydia and Ellie. They both died from cancer.
