One of Richthofen's fellow pilots in the early part of the movie is Stefan Kirmaier who's funeral is featured. Kirmaier is claimed to have been shot down by the French but was in reality shot down by an English pilot.
Kirmaier's death is also reported to his fellow pilots during what appears to be high or late summer, even though the historical Stefan Kirmaier was shot down 22nd November.
