In the final confrontation between Oz and the Witches, his image is projected over gunpowder smoke as a black and white figure, even though no optical system is capable of removing color from the original subject. Photographic film (or digital manipulation) would be needed for that in the plot, and there was none involved as his image was projected directly over smoke. Therefore the projected image should correspond to the original subject color-wise.
