In the shots of the medal ceremony, the podium is at center ice while the teams line up along the boards. When the actual ceremony was held, the podium was on one end of the arena and the teams lined up on the blue lines. So when Eruzione calls the other players up onto the podium with him, they actually had to run through the Russian and Swedish teams to get there.
