Tra i suoi 1280 abitanti molti sono poliziotti, lì trasferiti per allontanare le famiglie dalla violenza metropolitana. Il tutore dell'ordine è lo sceriffo Freddy Herlin, sordo da un orecchio, convinto di vivere nel migliore dei paesi fin quando capita qualcosa che gli fa aprire gli occhi.
