Per partecipare alla riunione annuale dell'associazione (massonica) "Sons of the Desert" di cui sono soci, i due amiconi fingono una malattia di Hardy che esige un soggiorno di cura a Honolulu, ma le loro mogli scoprono l'inganno. Per la compattezza narrativa e il sottile umorismo delle situazioni e dei personaggi che sostituisce la ricchezza delle gag comiche, è considerato il migliore dei lungometraggi della coppia su un tema tipico del loro cinema, l'evasione dal carcere più o meno dorato del matrimonio. Ebbe un successo così esteso che contribuì alla nascita di numerosi club di ammiratori, intitolati appunto "Sons of the Desert".
