Plotone di paracadutisti americani in Birmania attraversa la giungla in territorio nemico per distruggere una stazione radar giapponese. Molte scarpe al sole. Grazie a Walsh e al suo ritmo forsennato, è uno dei più scattanti e realistici film di guerra usciti dall'officina di Hollywood. Un vero manuale di combattimento. Così antigiapponese da diventare razzista. Flynn a briglia corta. La trama sarebbe poi stata rielaborata in Tamburi lontani. Esistono copie in edizione più breve (127 minuti) e colorizzata.
