Anni '50. La casalinga Alice vive con il marito Jack in una comunità sperimentale, isolata e utopica. Qui vige il concetto di ottimismo sociale, portato avanti dallo stesso amministratore delegato Frank, che gestisce ogni aspetto della vita in questo luogo idilliaco. Gli uomini passano le loro giornate nel quartier generale del Victory Project, un progetto top-secret dedicato allo "sviluppo di materiali innovativi". Le donne trascorrono il tempo a godersi la comunità con i suoi agi e lussi. Apparentemente la vita perfetta. L'unica cosa chiesta in cambio è l'impegno lavorativo e la discrezione sul progetto in atto. Quando Alice inizia a chiedersi cosa suo marito faccia alla Victory e a quale scopo, inizia a sospettare che Jack possa avere segreti con lei. Ben presto la donna si renderà conto che sotto il velo perfetto dell'apparenza si nascondono cose terribili, che porteranno la sua splendida vita a disfarsi pezzo dopo pezzo. Ma è pronta a perdere tutto pur di far conoscere la verità?
