Distrutto dalle battaglie e disilluso dalla guerra, il caporale Chris Merriman viene messo a capo di un'unità la cui prossima missione è di fornire un remoto avamposto ai margini del territorio controllato dai talebani. Mentre guida attraverso l'ostile provincia di Helmand, un Navy SEAL ferma il loro convoglio e arruola l'unità per un'operazione di importanza internazionale: devono aiutare una donna afghana famosa per il suo atteggiamento di sfida nei confronti dei talebani a fuggire dal paese. Senza carri armati o supporto aereo, Merriman e il suo team avranno bisogno di tutto il coraggio e la potenza di fuoco che riusciranno a mettere insieme per aprirsi la strada attraverso il paese dilaniato dalla guerra, e portare la donna al sicuro.
