La storia vera di un pugile diventato sacerdote. Quando un infortunio pone fine alla sua carriera di pugile dilettante, Stuart Long si trasferisce a Los Angeles per trovare soldi e fama. Mentre si arrangia come commesso di un supermercato, incontra Carmen, un'insegnante di scuola domenicale che sembra immune al suo fascino da cattivo ragazzo. Deciso a conquistarla, l'agnostico di lunga data inizia ad andare in chiesa per fare colpo su di lei. Tuttavia, un incidente in moto lo spinge a chiedersi se può usare la sua seconda opportunità per aiutare gli altri, portandolo alla sorprendente consapevolezza di essere destinato a diventare un prete cattolico.
