Nel 2004 viaggiare nel tempo è possibile. L'organizzazione governativa che controlla i viaggi ha il preciso scopo di mandare i suoi agenti indietro nel tempo alla ricerca di criminali che, impadronitosi della tecnologia, viaggiano per modificare gli eventi a loro piacimento. Max Walker, inviato in missione nel 1994, viene a scontrarsi con i loschi affari del Senatore McComb, mettendo in pericolo sé stesso e la moglie, assassinata infatti proprio dieci anni prima in circostanze non chiare. Venuto a conoscenza del fatto che anche l'omicidio dell'amata era un evento provocato da un'incursione dal futuro, Max si impegna per modificare gli eventi.
