Dopo la morte del padre, Cenerentola vive come una serva nella dimora di famiglia, succube della matrigna, la perfida Lady Tremaine, e delle sorellastre Anastasia e Genoveffa. Consolata dall'affetto delle creaturine che popolano la casa, tra cui i topolini Giac e GasGas e il fido cane Tobia, la ragazza ha un sogno: sposare un principe e vivere felice e contenta per tutta la vita. Un giorno si diffonde la notizia che il Re ha indetto un ballo perché il figlio trovi tra le giovani del regno la sua sposa, Cenerentola sente che quella è l'occasione che aspettava. Col l'intervento della fata Smemorina, la ragazza si presenta a bordo d'una singolare carrozza. Tra l'ammirazione dei cavalieri e l'invidia delle dame fa subito breccia nel cuore del Principe e costui nel suo. L'incantesimo è di breve durata: a mezzanotte la fanciulla è costretta a scappare, perdendo una scarpetta. Conquistato dal fascino della misteriosa sconosciuta il Principe è deciso a ritrovarla.
