Mikael Blomkvist è tornato alla guida della rivista Millennium ed è pronto a pubblicare un numero speciale sulla piaga del trafficking, la tratta delle donne dall'Est Europa per scopi di sfruttamento sessuale. Ma un triplice omicidio riscrive le sue priorità, poiché la principale sospettata altri non è che Lisbeth Salander, la donna che odia gli uomini che odiano le donne, la donna che Mikael, il seduttore, non si toglie dalla testa. Convinto della sua innocenza, Blomkvist cerca di arrivare a lei prima della polizia e di un terribile gigante biondo, che marca la linea di collegamento tra il male politico e il male privato, nascosto nel passato personale di Lisbeth.
