Poco prima di imbarcarsi per la sua vacanza, Elliot Slater, un giovane e attraente fotografo professionista, si trova casualmente a fotografare un contrabbandiere di gioielli. Il contrabbandiere Omar e la sua complice Nina si impegnano in una caccia al negativo con l'obiettivo di distruggerlo per mantenere il proprio anonimato, e seguono il protagonista nella sua vacanza sulla lussuriosa isola nota come "Eden", dove Elliot si reca per affrontare le tendenze BDSM della sua sessualità, con cui si trova poco a suo agio. I criminali sono a loro volta inseguiti dagli investigatori Fred Lavery e Sheila Kingston, che cercano di incastrarli usando il fotografo come esca, tutti sotto le mentite spoglie di visitatori, e il film si divide tra le disavventure dei criminali inseguiti dai poliziotti, e le vicende sentimentali di Elliot e della Mistress Lisa, la direttrice del villaggio vacanze, il tutto nella cornice del racconto BDSM "Exit to Eden" scritto da Anne Rice.
