Josh, uno studente universitario, viene abbordato ad una festa da Beth, che decide di riprendere con una telecamera la loro notte di sesso. La mattina seguente Josh si accorge che la cassetta è stata spedita alla sua fidanzata Tiffany, che studia a Austin in Texas. Parte così con tre amici, molto diversi tra loro, intenzionato a salvare il suo rapporto. Tra gag demenziali e tormentoni (vedi il serpente) ben distribuiti, Todd Phillips dimostra di conoscere bene i Fratelli Farrelly ( Tutti pazzi per Mary) e le università americane
