Jerry, direttore di un'agenzia di pubblicità, gira alcuni messaggi promozionali di un prodotto inesistente per accontentare la sua amichetta. Dal momento che gli short stanno per essere trasmessi in televisione, Jerry è costretto ad inventarsi un prodotto. Carol, una pubblicitaria appartenente a un'agenzia concorrente, decide di sottrarre a Jerry, il "cliente". Da questo momento in poi nascono infiniti equivoci e avventure assortite che coinvolgono Carol e Jerry.
