Dattatraya (Amitabh Bachchan) è un uomo di 102 anni molto energico, vitale. entusiasta della vita che continua a scoprire ogni giorno. Vive insieme a suo figlio Babu (Rishi Kapoor), un uomo di 75 anni, vedovo, triste, burbero imprigionato dalle sue stesse fissazioni. Un uomo su cui la vita passa, uguale ogni giorno... senza desideri e priva di entusiasmo. Insomma padre e figlio come il sole e la notte. Un giorno Dattatraya viene a conoscenza di un uomo giapponese che è il più longevo del mondo con i suoi 118 anni.
