Il piccolo Hogart è un ragazzino che abita nel Maine e che, un giorno fa la conoscenza di un gigante che arriva direttamente dallo spazio. Il bambino, dopo l'iniziale timore, diventa amico e maestro del gigante dagli strabilianti poteri. Hogart sa perfettamente che l'ottuso mondo che lo circonda non è pronto ad accogliere il suo strano amico, e perciò fa di tutto per tenerlo al sicuro da occhi indiscreti.
