Nella bella Verona Beach, due adolescenti innamorati si tolgono la vita seppellendo per sempre l'odio dei loro genitori. Lo annuncia una speaker di un notiziario televisivo, declamando in versi rimati il loro amore tragico e avversato dalle rispettive famiglie: anglosassoni e protestanti i Montague, ispanici e cattolici i Capulet. Signori di Verona e nemici giurati, governano sciaguratamente il destino della città a colpi di pistola e quello dei loro figli con regolamenti e castighi. Dietro a una maschera, attraverso un acquario e sotto a un balcone, Romeo e Giulietta si innamorano di un amore innocente ed eccitato. Divisi dagli impedimenti del caso e dall'egoismo delle parti avverse, i giovani innamorati soccomberanno nel corpo, sopravvivendo nel cuore.
