Nell'impersonare il grande apostolo dell'indipendenza dell'India e della non violenza, Kingsley è straordinario. Appartenente alla categoria dei colossi con un'idea, il film è coinvolgente, convincente, un po' didattico. 8 premi Oscar: film, regia, Kingsley, sceneggiatura (John Briley), fotografia, costumi, scenografie, montaggio.
