Una diligenza parte da Tonto verso Lordsburg. A bordo ci sono una prostituta, la moglie incinta di un militare, un baro, un truffatore e un medico alcolizzato. Per strada si aggiunge il pistolero Ringo e lungo il percorso, sotto gli attacchi degli indiani, questa umanità di peccatori saprà trovare riscatto. La moglie dell'ufficiale partorisce grazie al medico e Ringo va incontro a una sparatoria decisiva con i fratelli Plummer.
