In un college universitario, il paterno allenatore riesce a conciliare gli interessi della squadra di football con quelli del padrone (i dirigenti scolastici), portando i suoi ragazzi alla vittoria. Film mediocre ed edificante diretto con competenza nelle scene sportive. Suscitò scalpore per la scena in cui il giovane protagonista si sdraia di notte con tre compagni sulla striscia bianca di una strada ad alta velocità rischiando la morte. Un incidente mortale di cui fu vittima un ragazzo, presunto imitatore del film, e l'accesa polemica che ne seguì indussero la Disney a togliere la scena sul mercato nordamericano. Nell'edizione italiana la scena rimase, ma il film fu proibito ai minori di 14 anni.
