Durante l'occupazione tedesca in Polonia, alcuni ufficiali polacchi in esilio a Londra affidano ad un professore, che è in realtà una spia nazista, messaggi per ebrei e partigiani polacchi, tra cui la moglie del capocomico di una compagnia di attori. Questi, Bronski, per evitare gli arresti, è costretto a travestirsi impersonando ufficiali tedeschi, e persino lo stesso Hitler. Alla fine riusciranno tutti a fuggire. Remake di Vogliamo vivere di Lubitsch (1942).
