Nada (Roddy Piper), operaio, ha trovato lavoro a San Francisco. In cerca di un posto dove passare la notte, viene portato da un collega in una chiesa dove ascolta un predicatore cieco parlare del controllo della mente che “loro” starebbero praticando sugli uomini. Poco prima che il posto sia oggetto di un raid della polizia, Nada scova degli strani occhiali in una scatola e tramite quelli riesce a vedere le cose come stanno realmente: un sacco di gente ha un aspetto orribile con facce simili a teschi. Gli alieni hanno già occupato parecchi posti importanti e stanno continuando a farlo senza che gli umani se ne accorgano. Nada decide di combatterli e di trovare qualche alleato.
