Il piccolo Bastian che ha da poco perso la mamma, si rifugia nella soffitta della scuola a leggere un vecchio libro che si rivela magico; così Bastian “entra” nella storia e combatte contro il Nulla per difendere il mondo di Fantasia con l'aiuto di un drago volante e di un fanciullo guerriero. Suggestiva superproduzione tedesca, girata però in inglese, che all'epoca ottenne un grande successo grazie alla fiabesca vicenda del romanzo di Michael Ende (debitamente semplificata) e alla colonna sonora di Giorgio Moroder. Appassionante e non stucchevole.
