Disavventure a New York di un gattino abbandonato, dei suoi amici cani randagi e della sua ricca e affettuosa padroncina adottiva. Dell'origine letteraria - Oliver Twist (1837-38) di Charles Dickens - è rimasto solo qualche spunto in questo cartone della Disney, in cui per alcune scene (traffico stradale, inseguimenti) è stata impiegata la computer-graphic. Non è tra i migliori lungometraggi della premiata ditta, ma rimane un film gradevole, ben congegnato nella netta prevalenza di animali antropomorfi su personaggi umani, che tiene d'occhio i musical e i film d'azione degli anni '80. Per tutti, adulti compresi.
